Holiday Makers + Art Market

The Mill at Shelburne Falls hosts an outdoor Holiday Makers and Art Market on Saturday, November 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. While the market features work by resident makers and artists in wood, glass, pottery, metal and textile arts, this market is also supporting the West County Food Pantry and Pots for Pets.

Kate Pousont-Scarborough, Director of the Shelburne Falls Yoga studio located at the Mill, is collecting donations for the West County Food Pantry. During the market, Kate is offering information about the studio and holding a drawing that gives all food pantry contributors a chance to win a free, online, individual yoga session. In addition, anyone who donates $15 or more in food items or gift cards may choose a yoga block, blanket, or strap, while supplies last.

Other Mill tenants are donating services and goods to the drawing to encourage more market attendees to participate and support the West County Food Pantry. Photographer Ben Barnhart is donating one hour of studio time. The winner can bring in anything they want (themselves, family, pets, etc.) to be photographed. Donations to the drawing include a paperweight by glass artist Jeremy Sinkus, a chenille scarf from weaver Sue McFarland, and ornaments from Marian Ives. Other participating artists include Emily Gopen, Ruth Bosch, Heather Wynne’s Connected Threads and Katie Cavacco of Free Ramblin’ Kids.

The West County Food Pantry is a program of Community Action's Center for Self-Reliance.https://www.communityaction.us/food-pantries). The list of requested items includes: baking supplies (flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla etc.), chicken and vegetable broths, stuffing, cooking oils, any holiday-oriented, non-perishable foods and grocery gift cards or certificates from McCusker's, Keystone and Greenfield's Market, or Big Y. For an updated list of prize contributors and food requests please check the Mill at Shelburne Falls website.

The Pots for Pets tradition was started twelve years ago by Patty Corsiglia, a longtime pottery student of Molly Cantor and a volunteer at the Dakin Animal Shelter. During Moonlight Magic (cancelled this year due to the pandemic), Molly and her students put pottery seconds out for sale by donation with the funds going to the Dakin Animal Shelter and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Regional Dog Shelter. Members of The Handle Factory Community Clay Center, founded at the Mill in 2019 by Cantor, continues the tradition in Corsiglia’s memory at the Holiday Makers Market.

The Mill has onsite parking at 49 Conway Street and is located on the Buckland side of the Iron Bridge at Shelburne Falls. Admittance is free and the wearing of masks and the observation of social distancing protocols is required of all attendees.
